Battle of Britain 4-ship formation
14 September 2026: Flying larger formations is 5% flying and 95% logistics, so let’s hope everything aligns for this one. On Sunday 20 September we’ll be joining the NZ Warbirds Association Ardmore fleet for a mass flyover of the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Time on target is 1100, so expect plenty of action at Ardmore from 1000. Current plan is:
Lead: Chipmunk 65
Blue 2: Chipmunk RFS
Blue 3: Chipmunk ARL
Blue 4: Chipmunk SAX
2027 airshow preview
14 September 2026:
Even though New Zealand seems to be in the teeth of an endless south westerly flow and the unsettled weather that comes with it, airshow practices have begun for the 2027 season. Here’s what we’re looking forward to:
24 January: Tauranga. Classic Flyers at Tauranga put on this fantastic airshow most summers. It’s a lower-key event than some, but the static displays are always world class and you never know what the team will pull out of the hangar next. The Tiger Yellow pair will be displaying.
14 March: Ardmore. Warbirds on Parade – Auckland’s Family Airshow is a fantastic day out as well as the day Ardmore-based display pilots traditionally have a final dress rehearsal ahead of either Wānaka or Omaka. Chipmunk Blue and Tiger Yellow will both be displaying.
26-28 March: Omaka. Classic Fighters is a major event on the air show calendar so we’re really looking forward to this one! Expect displays from Chipmunk Blue (3 ship followed by solo) and Tiger Yellow (pair). Tickets here: https://www.classicfighters.co.nz/
Chipmunk 65 to display at New Zealand’s #1 air show
2 October 2025: What’s an air show without a Chipmunk? We’re thrilled to announce that Chipmunk 65 will be displaying at Warbirds over Wānaka. This show is hands-down the number one aviation event in New Zealand, so we’re honoured to be taking part alongside some pretty incredible acts.
Check the Warbirds over Wānaka website for the schedule once it’s finalised, but you can expect to see a low level solo aerobatics display on the Friday, then formation flypasts on Saturday and Sunday.
PLUS we’ll also be offering scenic and aerobatic adventure rides as display timings permit.

‘Poor Man’s Spitfire’ documentary premiere confirmed
30 September 2025: If you’re heading to Warbirds over Wānaka then here’s a must-do one evening. We’ll be premiering our documentary ‘Poor Man’s Spitfire’ at Wānaka’s Cinema Paradiso on the evening of Thursday 2 April. Expect a Q&A with Vaughn then sit back and enjoy the story of WZ865’s history, restoration and return to flight.
