Adventure flights
No experience required – strap in and step back to the golden age of flying!
If you’ve always dreamt of flying in a WW2 era aircraft, our Chipmunk Adventure Flights put this unforgettable experience in reach, offering Auckland scenic flights or full-on aerobatic rides.
Type rating training and aircraft hire
We offer type rating training in the De Havilland Chipmunk, Piper Arrow, Piper Cherokee (all models) and Cessna 172.
Your training syllabus and ground / flight time will depend on your prior experience. Chipmunk training can include initial tailwheel training if required.
Note that while the Arrow is also available for private rental to approved pilots, the Chipmunk is dual-only due to insurance requirements.

Recurrent and ab initio pilot training
If you’ve gone a few months without flying, we get it! Life can get in the way. An hour or two of dual instruction is a great way to get back in the saddle, brush up on a particular skill or just give you the confidence you need before carrying friends and family.
We also offer limited opportunities for one-on-one ab-initio training designed to take you from your very first flight to Private Pilot Licence (PPL) standard.
NB both of these options are currently “BYO aeroplane.”

Vaughn Davis is an experienced, ex-RNZAF pilot with an ATPL licence, C and D category instructor ratings, as well as instrument, aerobatics, low level display, formation and other qualifications. You can expect to be trained to a high standard of aircraft handling and airmanship… so if you’re looking for quick-and-easy, try somewhere else! With 40 years in aviation, Vaughn’s approach is well suited to students with life experience looking for professional, safety-focussed flight instruction.
Displays
For the birthday boy or girl who has everything… a private airshow!
If your party location is on the coast or in a rural area, we can plan and provide a private, low level aerobatic display just for you.
Your private display can also feature a formation of two Chipmunks or a 1930s era Tiger Moth.
Chipmunk 65 is also available as a solo act or as part of a formation for organised aviation events. Look out for us at air shows in Auckland and beyond!

Our Chipmunk 65 and Chipmunk Blue Display Team merchandise is all made and designed in New Zealand.
Chipmunk merchandise is available online through the Pilot Shop and in-person at the Warbirds Ardmore Visitor Centre shop.
